The IPTC Skill Cartridge® is a categorization component that analyzes the vocabulary used in documents and classifies them into approximately 130 categories based on key headings of the top two levels of the IPTC Subject News Code taxonomy (http://www.newscodes.org/). The IPTC Skill Cartridge® has been trained, tested and validated in collaboration with Agence France Presse (AFP) based on a large corpus of general-interest news items, using the proven similarity algorithms embedded in Luxid®.
