Competitive Intelligence (CI) extracts the same entities as the TM360° Skill Cartridge®, as well as 10 types of semantic relationships involving companies, their employees, assets or strategy, including Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions, Court Cases, Board and Management Changes, Financial Reporting, Business Development and Strategy.
CI leverages syntactical reasoning to establish the role played by each entity in the relationship, enabling it for example to recognize which is the acquiring company and which is the target of the acquisition or to distinguish licensee from licensor. Three extraction procedures are included in the CI Skill Cartridge®, extracting relationships only (CIRelationships), relationships and major entity types (CIandMajorTM360Entities), or relationships and all entity types (CIandAllTM360Entities).
Customization and Extension
CI can be customized through the use of specific lexicons, for example specifying that some companies are your customers or competitors, or adding your own existing lists. Many parameters are available for adjusting its extraction behavior, for example extending its scope using some company noun phrases and not only proper nouns or improving the precision with a restricted use of some predictive rules.
Common use cases where CI can be used include :
- Monitoring news articles in real time to detect significant business events affecting customers, partners or competitors
- Investigating external growth opportunities
- Extracting structured and/or numerical information about organizations of interest, their employees, assets or strategy, to build knowledge bases and/or conduct deep analytics.
